The world is going bonkers, isn’t it? Transfer deadline day is one crazy day of the year, when the entire world grinds to a halt and sits in front of their computer screens, hoping for their clubs to sign somebody and surprise them, after what has been 3 quiet months.
And this year is no different. Today has been as crazy as ever and there’s still 3 hours to go. And I will keep you guys updated on any news that is happening.
The transfers that have actually happened at the club today are Niklas Bendtner finallu completing his move to Italian champions Juventus on loan with an option to buy at the end of the loan period. He will be mighty pleased he has finally got his way, after being frustrated throughout the window at the lack of interest being shown in him. The fee is rumored to be around £5 million after a year, which is pretty less for the greatest striker to walk the face of the planet. But, nonetheless.
Park Chu-Young has put an end to his misery in North London by moving to Celta Vigo on a loan deal. The Korean striker will be no stranger to last minute transfer escapades, sealing one last year himself. Hopefully, he will be getting more time on the pitch than on the bench this season.
Player we have been linked to? Well there’s loads. We were being linked with a complete takeover of Newcastle today morning, with a bunch of Magpies being linked.
The first name thrown around was Cheik Tiote, who in my opinion would be a very good signing, in the circumstances. Our midfield does look a bit too lightweight, and would be great to have a robust strong defensive midfielder. However, that has kind of fallen through the day, which led to the rise of the Yohan Cabaye rumours. Supposedly the Gunners have lodged a bid of £8 million and even attempted to throw in a Russian in the deal, but Newcastle just fisted it back. And this led to us being linked to Demba Ba, the prolific Senegalese striker, one half of the deadly Demba duo which will conquer the world very soon.
Other major rumors during the day was Arsenal trying to loan Michael Essien from Chelsea, and there were some major headway on that front, but obviously it has all fallen apart. Maybe just Twitter going crazy. There were even several fail photoshops of him in Arsenal jerseys.
The other major rumour was that of Arsenal making a pretty massive bid for Marrouane Fellaini, but I really cannot trace back the source. Maybe they thought it was stupid or not exciting enough to garner attention. Whatever!
The rest of the place is going absolutely bonkers at the moment. Liverpool are having bid after bid for Dempsey being rejected, while Aston Villa succeeded in their first attempt on the American. Dempsey however refused to go to Villa Park. He also has been linked to Sunderland, and now Tottenham have joined Liverpool in the race, which is quite a put-off to be honest.
Sp*rs have sold off Modric and van der Vaart, their best two midfielders, and coming in are Moussa Dembele
and Joao Moutinho. Rather not. The deal has been agreed between the clubs but there seems to be some glitches with the personal terms of the player. Sp*rs have also signed hugely experienced French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, which is quite a coup.
Liverpool themselves have been pretty busy in restructuring their Squad for the Rodgers project. Signings like Borini, Allen, Sahin and Assaidi have now been followed up by Leverkusen forward Samed Yesil. Charlie Adam has left and has moved to Mordor with Stoke City. So, officially, now Stoke have the largest number of cunts in a single team in history. Andy Carroll has moved to West Ham on a year’s loan after apparently being told he was not part of Rodger’s plans. Jay Spearing dropped a division to Bolton on loan.
Manchester City who have been uncharacteristically quiet all summer, have now sealed the transfer of vastly experienced Inter defender Maicon, and also want Benfica midfielder Javi Garcia for £24 million. Fulham have signed Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United for £4.5 million, which is quite a steal. He decided not to move to Fiorentina, to stay in London with his family, and was met with a strong reply on the Fiorentina website, stating that he wasn’t worthy of wearing the Fiorentina jersey.
Everton have signed Costa Rican winger Bryan Oviedo from Copenhagen. Manchester United have been pretty quiet today, an indication they are done with their business. QPR have been the busiest in the transfer market, signing a number of have-beens and could-have-beens.
Park Ji-Sung, Robert Green, Esteban Granero, Andrew Johnson, Jose Bosingwa and also Brazil goalie Julio Cesar. They are still on the lookout for more supposedly.
That’s it for now. I will keep you updated in any event of us making any signing today.
Jai Arsenal 🙂
Speaking of which, we have signed someone, or not. 17 year old Macedonian keeper Dejan Iliev from a 3rd Division Macedonian side. Well, Yaay!! 😀
