Arsenal 1 (Oxlade-Chamberlain 74) – Tottenham Hotspur 1 (Chadli 56)
Man of the Match – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal)
Arsenal were held to another Premier League draw against local rivals Sp*rs despite dominating the entire match. Tottenham came into the game after a disappointing home loss to West Bromwich Albion in the league, while Arsenal had just been knocked out of the Capitol One Cup by high-flying Southampton.
Alexis Sanchez, who scored in the 2-1 loss to the Saints, started from the bench, while Mesut Ozil started again on the left. The Gunners dominated possession throughout the match, ending up with 69% of the ball. Sp*rs failed to control Arsenal’s quick and incisive passing, leading to a furious response from Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino on his players. Sp*rs, however had two great chances on the break, first when Greedybayor miscued completely with space and time inside the box, and then Chadli. Arsenal’s injury crisis seemed to grow when both Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey having to be replaced by Mathieu Flamini and Santi Cazorla.
Arsenal’s best chance was when Chamberlain was set up by Aaron Ramsey on the edge of the box, but the Englishman’s effort was well saved by Hugo Lloris. Cristian Eriksen then dispossessed Mathieu Flamini and played in Nacer Chadli, who cooly finished past Szczesny. Arsenal hit back instantly, with Lloris pulling off a fine save from a Mertesacker header. Arsenal finally got reward for their attacking intent, when Danny Welbeck completely miscued a shot from a Sanchez cross, leaving Chamberlain free to tap home the equalizer. Arsenal next play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the league.
Jai Arsenal 🙂
