Chelsea 2 (Hazard 27 (pen), Diego Costa 78) – Arsenal 0
Man of the Match – John Terry (Chelsea)
Arsene Wenger failed to break his Jose Mourinho hoodoo, as Arsenal succumbed to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal put in an insipid performance and Chelsea did what they do best.
Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois suffered an injury on the head, when he was struck by an onrushing Alexis Sanchez, and had to be eventually replaced by Czech veteral Petr Cech. The action on the pitch might have been uninspiring, but tempers boiled over after a Gary Cahill challenge on Alexis Sanchez. Wenger clearly did not like what Mourinho had to say following the challenge and gave the Chelsea boss a piece of his mind, by shoving the cunt, before the fourth official seperated the two.
Eden Hazard was causing Callum Chambers some problems, and Laurent Koscielny was the victim of his pace and trickery as he bought down the Belgian international inside the penalty area. Hazard made no mistakes from the spot to put the Blues into the lead. The match trudged on, with neither side imposing themselves. Arsenal, however, were aggrieved, when the ref didn’t award the Gunners a penalty, when Francesc Fabregas clearly handling the ball inside the area off a Wilshere shot.
Fabregas showed Arsenal what they have been missing, by putting Costa through with 12 minutes left, and the Brazilian born Spanish international made no mistakes, with a fine finish. Arsenal next face Hull at home, with a chance to overturn their mediocre league form.
Jai Arsenal 🙂
