Watford 0-3 Arsenal (Sanchez 62, Giroud 68, Ramsey 74)
Man of the Match – Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)
Arsenal put in a superb second half performance to beat a dogged Watford by 3 goals, at Vicarage Road. Laurent Koscielny returned to the squad and replaced Gabriel at the back, while Theo Walcott started again up front. However, despite his fine display against Manchester United, he was relatively quiet against the Hornets. Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, too were kept under wraps by a generally resilient Watford house.
However, Arsenal knew a win was absolutely essential to stay near the top of the table, and warm up for their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich. And they got exactly that, with Sanchez and Ozil showing their class. Sanchez pounced on a loose ball, when Mesut Ozil seemed to have been fouled inside the box on 62 minutes to break the deadlock.
And it was 2-0, just 6 minutes later, when Ozil’s cut back allowed Giroud to slam one past Heurelho Gomes. And the win was sealed, when Hector Bellerin drove into the box and set up Aaron Ramsey, who nicked the ball past the keeper to seal a 3-0 win.
Next up, Bayern Munich. Easy peasy.
Jai Arsenal 🙂
