Swansea 0-3 Arsenal (Giroud 49, Koscielny 68, Campbell 73)
Man of the Match – Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)
Arsenal produced another solid second half away day display as they stayed level on points with league leaders Manchester City, with a resounding 3-0 win in Wales over a struggling Swansea. Having won 4 consecutive games on the trot, which included a 3-0 win over Manchester United and 2-0 win over Bayern Munich, Arsenal’s kids put up a cropper of a show against Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup, and an answer was required against Swansea.
The best chance of the first half fell to French international Bafetimbi Gomis, who was left clear with only Cech to beat, but managed to squander his chance. Swansea looked slightly the better side in the first half, but all the changed post the break. Olivier Giroud headed Arsenal into the lead in the 49th minute, before former Arsenal keeper Lukasz Fabianski was involved in a typically comical moment, as he slipped the ball into the path of Laurent Koscielny, who had the simple task of tapping the ball home to make it 2-0.
The game was put beyond doubt, when Mesut Ozil’s cross from the left wing was met by Joel Campbell, who managed to steer home, amidst a crowd of Swansea defenders. It was a solid performance overall, on an evening when Arsenal were required to prove their title credentials.
Jai Arsenal 🙂
