RVP u-turn, Koscielny, Squillaci, Chamakh, Jovetic and all that!

10 Jul

Hello Gooners. More long days and dull nights have passed and finally I have found some time out to blog. Not that there’s much to, but anyways here it is.

*IF* rumours are to be believed, then there are the hushed and quiet ones doing the rounds that Robin van Persie could do a Wayne Rooney and sign a long term contract at the club. And this is not even a week after that much publicised, analysed over, abused over update that was posted on his personal site.

Not that I wasn’t part of it, but I did refrain from abuses. To what extent this is true, we may never know unless there is some concrete news that this is going to happen. Or you could just be going around in circles around the vast footballing internet, hanging on to that last shred of van Persie optimism.

Again, my instincts are either dead or unwilling to act up, and again my reaction to this is going to be quite muted. I clearly do not see van Persie signing the new deal, when he has clearly mentioned in his update that he and the club disagreed upon how the club ‘should move forward’. The best would be to sell him right off, to the highest bidder.

There have been reported rumours that Manchester City have been put off by the high price, and instead are willing to offer a player plus cash offer, which could include their Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko. I think he is a really talented player, who knows where the back of the net is, but I think he will be too similiar to what we already have in the form of Olivier Giroud.

Also, according to other reports, Manchester City’s inevitable bid for the Dutchman is being delayed because the transfer of another greedy cunt, Emmanuel Adebayor is in a ‘limbo’ at the moment. The club that are behind him, are none other than the cunts down the lane, Tottenham. Supposedly, he wants a pay of 170 big ones. This is what our game has come to.

Among other rumours relating to van Persie, are that Juventus are the front runners at the moment, though there has been no official bid as such, apart from the reported derisory 8 million offer. Barcelona have long distanced themselves from van Persie, also going to state that David Villa is staying put at the Camp Nou.

I suppose that’s enough you’ve read about him. Moving on, there are still a few deals to be sorted out before it’s too late. Theo Walcott and Alex Song too have one year left on each of their contracts and though there has not been much activity on the transfer front related to these two, the club could well hand them new deals.

Apparently, Laurent Koscielny has been handed a fresh deal to keep him at the club till 2017. His present deal expires in 2014, and I would love to see Bosscielny penning the deal as soon as possible. I have said this time and time again, he was one of the top performers last seasons, and he deserves the new deal. And now with the arrival of one his best mates, Olivier Giroud at the club, I do not see any reason why he wouldn’t sign the contract.

Meanwhile, his fellow French defender has been priced out of a move to Bastia. Sebastien Squillaci has been heavily linked with the French club over the summer, but their president has said that they just cannot afford the wages. And the same complication has arisen with another of our non performing stars, Marrouane Chamakh. Supposedly, Fiorentina look to be pulling out of the deal because of what Chamakh takes home every weekend, for basically doing nothing. His wage of £60,000 has put a lot of question marks over Arsenal’s payroll problems.

Of course, there needs to be a hierarchy, or probably divisions, between the club’s best players in terms of wages. For example, you really can’t expect Wayne Rooney earning the same as say, Bebe. This not only will allow the club to balance its books better but will also allow the club to sell the players on at the right time. Unfortunately, this is the obstacle that is blocking moves of Bendtner, Denilson and Vela as well, who could find themselves on loan until their contracts expire.

Moving on, Arsenal have offered a trial to a 17 year old French striker M’Baye Niang from Caen. How well that goes, we will find out in a few days time. There are also reports linking us to Montenegro forward Stevan Jovetic. I haven’t seen much of him but from what I hear he seems to be pretty talented. Surely can’t be worse than Chamakh can he. He likes to play as a second striker, which is what we need I suppose. But, I really can’t tell. A few pounds plus Chamakh could do the trick for us.

And finally, most players were back in training today. By the looks of it, it was a light training session. Just starting off with shedding all the holiday fat and the beer bellies. Andre Santos, is visibly aghast that his mate, Yossi Benayoun is nowhere to be found at London Colney. I hope the ‘gay’ can overcome this heartbreak.

Steve Bould of course is now assistant manager, and I hope to see some real improvement in defence. Overall, tactical, pressing and discipline. We really can’t afford to ship 49 goals, can we. Players who were involved in the Euro’s, like Podolski, Mertesacker, Giroud, Koscielny, Walcott and of course, van Persie are expected to return to training over the next couple of weeks. Things are already started to hot up.

That’s it for today, I suppose, then. Will post as soon as possible.

Jai Arsenal 🙂

I hope RVP will retrace his step by putting pen to paper and let the sleeping dogs lie. He should know the love all arsenal fan world-wide has for him is unquantified, he is presently an idol, legend and prince in the art of the round leather. l look forward in the next few hours to recind his decision and sign for an extension in his contract.
